Valentine’s Day party
We will have a Valentine’s Party Tuesday, February 14th at the end of the day.  We will have a card exchange and enjoy treats and a movie.  Anyone is free to bring in treats for this.  If your child is going to pass out valentines they need to bring one for everyone.  You will find a class list on the back of the newsletter.  We look forward to having a great time!

Character Counts
In January we focused on COMPASSION.  Congratulations to our winners B.J. and Reagan!  Nice work!

President's Day
There will be no school on Monday, February 20th, 2012 in observance of President's Day.  School will resume on Tuesday, February 21st.

Winter Gear
Please make sure that your child is prepared for playing outside every day when he or she comes to school.  Boots, hats, and gloves or mittens are necessities.  If they do not have extra shoes or boots for recess then they have to stay on the sidewalk.  Thank you!

Kalamazoo Wings Field Trip hockey
On Wednesday, March 7th Oakland Academy will head to Wings Stadium to cheer on the Kalamazoo Wings and celebrate March Is Reading Month.

The presale ticket cost is $3 per person.  (This field trip is cash only).  Anyone wishing to meet our group at the game will have to pay full price ($12-14).  Money and chaperone form is due no later than Wednesday, February 1st.  This will provide us enough notice to provide Wings front office an accurate count for group seats.  Sorry but after this date we will no longer be able to accept additional chaperones.

Students and chaperones are responsible to bring a bag lunch to eat during the game.  Doors open at 9 a.m. and face off is at 10:30 a.m.  We need to leave Oakland Academy by 9:15a.m. so we can participate in some of the pre-game festivities.  We will return to school at the completion of the game.  Please see Mrs. Resman with any questions regarding this event.

Have a great Month,

Mrs. Kimble & Miss Allgor

PTO NEWS!!!

Check out our pictures!
Dear Parents,

We want to inform you of the progress our students made during the 2010-2011 school year.  We constantly review each student's learning progress to be certain that we are "on track."  One way we do this is by employing a widely used and nationally validated achievement test.  This test is administered throughout the United States to hundreds of thousands of children annually, both at the beginning, and again at the end of the school year.

Our students have completed the spring test and we can now judge the results of our students' and out teachers' efforts this school year.

Our charts demonstrate the results in greater detail.

We welcome others to join us for the 20010 - 2011 school year!
